Our History
Alamo Hospice was founded in 2006 by a husband and wife duo who had been in the medical field for years. Both had become tired of their current work in medical malpractice and were looking for something more meaningful. One of their coworkers had a brother who was running a small hospice in the Midland, Texas area so they all took a road trip one weekend to visit the operation. Hospice was still a new health care concept in the early 2000’s and the couple was inspired by the work they saw.
They quickly got to work drafting policies – working all week at the law offices in downtown San Antonio, and then writing all weekend. After a year of writing policy, they finally were able to accept their first patient. In just a few years they went from one patient on service to over 150.
Though the early days were filled with long nights and many uncertainties, Alamo Hospice persisted through its trials to become the great hospice company that it is today. Alamo Hospice serves patients from New Braunfels in the east to Boerne in the north and Castroville in the west. Alamo Hospice also has locations in the Conroe and Waco area near Houston.
In 2019, Alamo Hospice joined the ADDUS Homecare family. Joining this network of home care professionals allowed Alamo to focus on excellent patient care while ADDUS managed operational issues like insurance, regulations, and tech support.
ADDUS HomeCare is a leading provider of comprehensive home care and support services. Our core objective is providing great care for the elderly, disabled and chronically ill, especially those who are facing a life-limiting illness and has a prognosis of 6-months or less.
